What you will learn

You will be introduced to the general principles and skills relating to sewing and garment making, also using a commercial pattern.

Entry requirements

A beginners class is suitable for people with limited or no previous experience. Students must be able to understand English.

What you will need to bring along to the class

Commercial Sewing Pattern that says Easy or Very Easy.
No Button holes, zips and stretch fabric for the easy pattern.

Examples of Easy/Very Easy sewing Brand names patterns are:

McCall’s 8053
Buttrick 6687

A basic sewing kit consisting of fabric scissors, trimming scissors, paper scissors, dressmaker sewing pins with glass heads(about 38mm long), tape measure, fabric marker, seam ripper and hand sewing needles.

You must provide your own materials, fabric, haberdashery and thread to complete your garment.

You will have the use of all equipment in the workroom including: large tables, sewing machines, over-lockers, irons & metal rulers.
