Introduction:
Learn how to make beautiful soft furnishings for your home. Suitable for beginners to more advanced learners. The emphasis is to make items for your home to a high standard.

Target Group:
This course is suitable for adult students of all ages and ability.

Entry Requirements:
None. This course is for learners with no knowledge of sewing soft furnishings as well as for learners who have previous experience.

Course Content:
At the end of the course you will be able to:
Measure your windows,
Choose & estimate fabric requirements for blinds & curtains.
Make piped cushion covers with zip opening, make hand made curtains and a machine made Roman blind.
Apply a variety of machine and hand sewing techniques to a selection of soft furnishing items
Learners with previous knowledge will be able to chose from more advanced furnishings to include INTERLINED CURTAINS & HANDMADE BLINDS, DECORATED CUSHIONS, BED COVERINGS, ETC…

Course Structure:
Classes typically have 12 learners working on their assignments after completing a sample of a lined curtain, a Roman blind and a piped cushion cover.

Resources:
You will have the use of all equipment in the workroom which includes:- LARGE TABLES, SEWING MACHINES, OVERLOCKERS, IRONS & METAL RULERS.

You will need to supply all fabrics, haberdashery & your own sewing equipment, list available at first session. Some materials are obtainable from the tutor. Price list available in the classroom.
